There was a rage within Timothy that could only have been created through the incompetence of this type of politician. Those who lead their own people to disaster, do not get out enough to see the obvious and who are arrogant enough to think that their way is the only way.
And this was the standoff between the two men that would underline the greater sense of anger. Politicians and Police were a mix that was ordinarily a cocktail of disaster. This was no exception.
“May I remind you, Inspector” Simon said with stern in his voice “that you are not in charge here. I am. This will not go wrong. We will not restrict outsiders from being in the city. We will allow the protest to go as planned. And we will not panic at the first sight of trouble because you think a few rotten apples are going to poison the entire barrel. We will manage this and allow our good people to say what they need to say before this comes to a peaceful resolution.”
Timothy felt his jaw lock. His entire body was trembling with fury. And he knew that no matter what he said or did in this instance, there would be no middle ground with this man. It had already been decided in Simon’s head that there was no threat to the status quo; that no one would be causing issues in the streets and that this was merely a meeting between the sensible politician and the paranoid figure of authority.
