I am currently working on my new book, entitled ‘The book of Minimalism.’
Since I started writing on this blog full time, in March 2026, progress on the book has been slower than I would have preferred.
And a long summer of heat, zero leave and full-time work, trying to reach my quota of a post a week, whilst working on this book has taken a heavy toll. Yet, the book is making progress. Originally intended for a September release; realistically, it is likely December or potentially January 2027.
I am also finding it difficult to write.
My fourth book is my first stab at non-fiction, and this might be where the struggle to create it is coming from. I am, by definition, a storyteller, and therefore talking about my own life for the world to be shared with, is not an easy topic. I am a private person, and often reluctant to go into my personal micro-element.
But I have wanted to write this book since my first experiences with minimalism, and as an author on the subject, I believe this book is long overdue. It remains my next project. I hope that this book is presented as best it can be. It is not a guide to Minimalism, but rather my book on Minimalism. Hence, its name.
There are still many essays I should like to write for the book, about the changing environment of this world we call home, and how different things have become since I first explored Minimalism. But I cannot use fiction to hide my opinions and be as outrageous as I usually prefer to be in my novels. This is a story of reality; not a story that represents reality. In our hyper-sensitive world of feelings, one must be mindful of what they write and not alienate their audience.
So, the work continues. The essays continue. The editing continues.
Writing one book is a life-time goal.
Writing several is a career.
Writing several different styles, forms, genres and flitting between fiction and reality is a new realm for me.
The work is taking time.
But time I am prepared to give.
This book will cover my various concerns on the world through the scope of Minimalism; how I feel about the changes in technology, how we live and navigate life, and my various experiences over the last 13 years with this lifestyle.
I had hoped it would be complete by now, as previously mentioned, but life has intruded, and to be honest, I find it easier to write books as a fictional creator, rather than going into the details of my own life.
But it should be said that this is a book that needs to be written.
I intend to cover many different topics in the book. These are not limited to but include the following: living in a tiny house, my minimalist wedding, living an eco-friendly lifestyle, why I elected to become a vegetarian (and eventually stop being one), travel and growing a garden full of food.
I could add further to this, but it is best to allow the book to speak for itself. And I wish to add that it only skims the surface of my relationship with this lifestyle and philosophy.
But it remains, and shall be known as ‘the Book of Minimalism.’
